The Baganuur battery storage power station has supplied 17,692.9 MWh of electricity to the central system
The Ulaanbaatar city makes up more than 60 percent of the country’s total energy consumption, or an average of 1,245 MW of load on the energy system. The Ulaanbaatar city power system was completed for the 200 MW capacity shortfall it experienced last winter, which was due to the 2023-2024 winter. A 50 MW battery storage power station was established in the territory of the 1st khoroo of Baganuur District, Ulaanbaatar, based on the “Baganuur” power distribution substation. It began supplying electricity to the central system on December 13 of last year. As of today, it has supplied 17,692.9 MWh of electricity, making a significant contribution to the central region’s energy system, particularly that of Ulaanbaatar city. This station produces environmentally friendly green energy and supplies the stored electricity back to the grid during peak hours after accumulating it at night. Mongolian engineers, technical staff, and employees are successfully operating the station.
