Reviewed the projects current status
To accelerate the progress of the housing project implemented with foreign investment in Ulaanbaatar, a working group led by T. Davaadalai, First Deputy Governor of the Capital City for Economic Development and Infrastructure, reviewed the project’s current status on February 18.
Currently, several housing projects are being implemented in Ulaanbaatar, including the Bayangol River Rental Housing Project, the Green Ulaanbaatar Housing Project, the Ulaanbaatar City Income-Friendly Green Housing and Resilient Urban Renewal Sector Project, and the Green Lake 1,008-Family Housing Project.
The Bayangol River Rental Housing Project is a 10-hectare development funded by the Exim Bank of the Republic of Korea’s Economic Cooperation Fund. Located in the 34th khoroo of Songinokhairkhan District, it includes a school for 960 children, a 330-bed kindergarten, and 14 blocks of 10-story residential buildings, accommodating 2,007 families. These energy-efficient apartments are designed to be affordable for low- and middle-income households.
An open tender for the project’s construction was announced in 2024, and Il Sung JSC of the Republic of Korea was selected as the general contractor.
Preparations are underway to construct an energy-efficient residential complex for 712 families as part of the ‘Green Ulaanbaatar Housing Project.’ The project will be built on a 5-hectare site near Hanyn Material in the 6th khoroo of Songinokhairkhan District.
The ‘Ulaanbaatar Affordable Green Housing and Resilient Urban Renewal Sector Project,’ implemented by the Office of the Governor of the Capital City with funding from the Asian Development Bank, began its main activities in 2020 with the establishment of a project implementation unit. As of today, the first phase of the project includes the construction of 800 green housing units in the Bayankhoshuu and Sharkhad sub-centers, with 260 housing units scheduled for commissioning in 2025.
Reviewed the progress of the ‘Green Lake 1,008-Family Housing Project,’ which is being implemented with a grant from the People’s Republic of China. The project aims to reduce air and soil pollution, improve the living environment, and provide housing for residents of ger districts as part of the ger district redevelopment framework. It is a comprehensive solution, featuring 8 blocks of 21-story residential buildings for 1,008 families, covering an area of 84,833.6 m², and includes landscaping and road development.”
